Private, On-Demand Training for MongoDB Now Available

MongoDB University's Free Online Classes Reach 100,000 Registered Students

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Sep 17, 2013) - MongoDB today announced that Enterprise Subscribers now have access to private, on-demand training. These courses are provided by MongoDB University through its successful online learning platform, which has amassed more than 100,000 DBA and developer enrollments in its first year.

With private, on-demand training, developers and DBAs can begin a course at any time and work at their own pace. As an added benefit, each course comes with a private forum where students from the same company can collaborate on class assignments and seek advice from an instructor assigned to their course. Company managers can track the progress of employees through the courses using an integrated administration dashboard.

"The on-demand course offering from MongoDB University makes it easy and convenient for teams just starting out on MongoDB," said Jason McCay, founder and CEO of MongoHQ. "We recommend these courses to our customers who are new to MongoDB to ensure they get the most out of running, optimizing, and scaling MongoDB on MongoHQ."

Originally launched in October 2012 as 10gen Education, MongoDB University teaches users how to develop and administer MongoDB systems quickly and efficiently. The curriculum consists of four courses, each seven weeks in duration, offered five times per year, including MongoDB for Developers (offered in English and now also in Japanese), MongoDB for Java Developers, MongoDB for Node.js Developers, and MongoDB for DBAs.

"MongoDB's success providing professional training proves that the edX educational platform can be extraordinarily powerful for corporations as well as institutions of higher education," said Rob Rubin, vice president of engineering at edX. "The edX technical team has taken the MongoDB courses offered on the edX platform and find it incredibly valuable in building out our Open edX platform. We look forward to continuing to collaborate with MongoDB to find innovative new ways to expand and broaden Open edX."

"As demand for MongoDB continues to grow, we are excited to offer businesses the ability to train their teams quickly and confidentially on their own schedule," said Andrew Erlichson, vice president, education and cloud services at MongoDB. "MongoDB's rising popularity has created a large demand for training, and we look forward to continuing to develop the MongoDB University curriculum to further meet the education needs of our users and customers, including the addition of more advanced courses and those aimed at new development languages."
