Privy Council Office: Appointment of Chair of the Transportation Safety Board of Canada

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 28, 2006) - The President of the Queen's Privy Council for Canada, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister for Sport, the Honourable Michael D. Chong, today announced the appointment of Wendy A. Tadros as Chair of the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB), effective immediately.

Mrs. Tadros has been a full-time member of the Board since July 1, 1996, and, since December 2005, has been serving as Acting Chair. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Trent University and graduated with a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Western Ontario. Possessing significant experience in, and knowledge of, the transportation sector, she held positions of increasing responsibility with the National Transportation Agency of Canada prior to her appointment as a Member of the Transportation Safety Board of Canada. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is an independent agency, created to advance transportation safety through the investigation of occurences in the marine, pipeline, rail and air modes of transportation. The Board works to identify safety deficiencies and to make recommendations designed to eliminate or reduce those safety deficiencies.
