Bonnyville-based, third generation chuckwagon legend Rae Croteau Jr. is at it again. After an inspiring decision to donate a portion of his winnings to Calgary flood relief in 2013 (which was matched by his tarp sponsor TOMCO Group for a $10 000 donation), the veteran driver has a new focus for his 2014 run.

"This year we are going even bigger and engaging the crowd to help blow it up," says Croteau. "We are hoping to get even more support this year by involving the crowd. For every picture posted on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram of the #BadAssRainbow chuckwagon in action using the hashtag #chucks4bucks, Croteau, along with his sponsors TOMCO Group, Ranchman's Cookhouse and Dancehall, and Nabors Production will donate one dollar, up to a total of $6000, to the Sheldon Kennedy Child Advocacy Centre."

Tomco President, Wes Tomyn states, "Rae approached us with an idea to raise awareness for child advocacy by involving the chuckwagon crowds. We thought it was a great opportunity to include the audience, inspiring attendees to support chuckwagon racing and a local cause at the same time."

2014 will be Croteau Jr.'s fourteenth consecutive year at the GMC Rangeland Derby. He has won nine major show championships in his career. Having qualified for the Calgary Stampede's inaugural "Semi Final Saturday" in 2009, Rae has had three horses named to the WPCA's Equine Outfit of Excellence, and received the WPCA Showmanship Award for professionalism in 2002. 2011 saw Rae post 20 top ten runs, including 3 first place runs and 7 runs that cracked the top five.

Croteau (@RaeCroteau) will have a media meet and greet Monday July 7th at 10 am in the Chuckwagon barn on Stampede grounds for photo shoots and to launch the campaign. Private interview and photo/video shoots are available at any time before or after the event, starting Friday July 4th at noon. Please RSVP so driver and horses are available (and well fed and rested!).
