PRO-OR: Start Up Phase Underway at St-Augustin Pilot Plant

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Sept. 27, 2011) - PRO-OR (TSX VENTURE:POI), announces the resumption of the long-awaited activities at its Pilot Plant in Quebec City's St-Augustin-de-Desmaures Industrial Park. Important improvements were introduced to Pro-Or's plant for the characterisation and complete optimisation of the industrial process leading to increased production scale and continuous industrial operations.

The main improvements were :

  • To the crushing and shredding line, the measurement and granulometric controls as well as the homogeneous mixing of raw materials. These steps were previously sequential using multiple pieces of equipment (more than 7) which produced noticeable amounts of PGM-rich airborne dust. The installation of a single robust closed-loop ceramic-type pebble mill process meshes in one step the various operations without having to perform dust management. The mill feeds the reactor directly from the top for a dust-free raw material transfer.

  • The modular concept of the reactor oven now allows for rapid dismantling-free maintenance.

  • Simplified and improved rolling system relieve the reactor tubes of many past mechanical constraints thereby improving maintenance.

Pro-Or will soon hire a team of analysts and mass assessment experts who will supervise the characterisation tests and produce an official external report. Initially three series of tests are planned each made up of a normal operation phase during which samples will be taken at strategic points followed by a chemical analysis. These results will be compiled and result in recommendations of operational parameters. Adjustments to improve the efficiency of the process will be implemented. The assembly of the last plant components are scheduled to be completed by September 30 and followed by the start-up phase and the functionality certification. The supply of more than 650 catalytic converters to be used for characterisation and process optimization purposes is currently in our inventory.
