Proactive Security? Catalyst Conference 2007 to Provide Clarity

SALT LAKE CITY, UT--(CCNMatthews - April 11, 2007) - Burton Group experts, enterprise technologists and IT vendors will convene in San Francisco, June 25-29 at Catalyst Conference North America to discuss, clarify and determine what it takes to achieve proactive IT security.

"The security landscape for today's enterprise technologist is tougher than ever," says research director Dan Blum. "Vendors may claim to have proactive solutions, but most of them are still thinly veiled reactive approaches."

In order to help IT organizations navigate the complex security landscape, Burton Group luminaries Dan Blum and Diana Kelley have created an agenda that will address:

- End-user pain points -- management, de-perimeterization, compliance,
software security and operating system (OS) migration
- A proactive model for improving risk management, security posture,
architecture and response
- Why security vendors continue to focus on reactive solutions, and why the
market is "always consolidating, never consolidated"
- How recent acquisitions complement vendor security suites
- A sustainable approach to compliance and data protection
- How to re-establish control points and rethink security architecture in a
distributed, de-perimeterizing world
- Windows Vista security, migration and multiple operating system security

Highlights include case studies from:

- David Drossman, CISO, Investment Technology Group
- Jay Leek, Sr. Management, Corporate IT Security, Nokia
- Steve Adler, Program Director, Data Governance Solutions, IBM
- Ed Sarama, CSO, CheckFree Corporation
