Probaris ID 3.0 Released, Supports Identity as a Service (IDaaS) and Enterprise Identity Infrastructure Registration, Enrollment, Issuance and Lifecycle Management

New Probaris ID Features Build on FIPS 201 and Personal Identity Verification Interoperability Experience

PHILADELPHIA, PA--(Marketwire - September 16, 2010) -  Probaris, Inc. (Philadelphia, PA) announces the availability of Probaris ID 3.0, its industry leading product for issuing and managing interoperable identity credentials. The release incorporates years of experience with the identity, credentialing, and access management for Federal, State, and Local governments, critical infrastructure enterprises, and the emergency response community. Probaris ID 3.0 complies with the standards for Personal Identity Verification Interoperability (PIV-I) as specified in Federal Information Processing Standard 201 (FIPS 201) and the supporting PIV-I documents. The software allows government and industry to issue high assurance, interoperable credentials that meet a wide range of enterprise access and cybersecurity needs. A single interoperable identity credential can be used to better secure networks, applications, devices, and buildings.

Probaris ID 3.0 is available as an end-to-end enterprise solution for PIV and PIV-I credential enrollment, issuance, and lifecycle management. The product is currently deployed in multiple federal enterprises for issuing identity credentials to comply with the HSPD-12 mandate. Probaris ID has recently become available as part of a managed service offering. Customers can now purchase Probaris ID 3.0 on a subscription basis, without the capital expense and hassle of hosting additional secure servers and databases. Through a partnership with a Fortune 50 cybersecurity solution provider, customers can purchase PIV-I credentials based on an Identity as a Service (IDaaS) model.

Probaris ID 3.0 provides the authoritative data store and identity vault that form the basis for creation, safekeeping and management of trusted identities. This cornerstone enables the integration of other building blocks of enterprise identity infrastructure such as background and biometric data capture, card management systems and public key infrastructure. Probaris ID 3.0 expands and updates its identity workflow to facilitate the creation of authoritative identity data stores, creation of standards based trusted (interoperable) identities and binding them to multipurpose identity credentials.

"Probaris has focused from the very beginning of HSPD-12 and FIPS 201 on the delivery of comprehensive solutions to meet our customers' requirements for identity, credentialing, and access management," according to Charles Durkin, President of Probaris. "Probaris ID 3.0 provides the most thorough and flexible PIV and PIV-I enrollment, workflow, and issuance solution on the market today. The product's ability to support a wide range of biometric devices, printers, and related software products enables us to offer robust solution options to meet a wide range of customer needs. Our customers leverage this capability to provide the most security conscious users in the world with cloud based identity and cybersecurity services."

The market for identity, credentialing and access management is expected to grow significantly as Federal, State and Local government and critical infrastructure enterprises expand the use of trusted identity credentials. Over five million of these credentials are deployed in the United States; other programs currently evaluating the use of standards based trusted identities include next generation Social Security credentials as well as next generation of medical IDs that will enable exchange of information among healthcare providers. Funding is in place in the Federal 2011 budget to support government and industry identity initiatives, and a number of Cybersecurity and Healthcare bills are currently under consideration in Congress.
