CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - July 13, 2016) - Procured Health (Procured), a provider of data-driven technology solutions aimed at improving patient care and eliminating wasteful spending, announced today that John Cunningham has joined the company as the Chief Solutions Officer and Tom Sherry has been named to the company's Advisory Board.
As industry veterans with over 60 years of combined experience, Cunningham and Sherry will focus on helping hospital executives to adopt a more patient-centered, evidenced-based approach to managing clinical spend. Clinical supplies and drugs represent the second largest and fastest growing cost category for hospitals. Further, estimates show that poor decisions, around both supply and drug selection and utilization, will account for more than $35 billion in wasteful spending in 2016.
In Cunningham's new role as Chief Solutions Officer, he'll oversee health system partnerships, with an emphasis on optimizing how hospitals use Procured's solutions and how they engage physicians. He will also contribute to the product vision to ensure that the company's solutions continue to meet the ever-evolving needs of healthcare providers.
Most recently, Cunningham led supply chain operations of a large adult and children's academic medical center (AMC) in the San Francisco Bay Area where he is credited with leading an operational and financial transformation. Prior to that, John was Senior Vice President of Supply Chain Services at MedAssets, with responsibility for the operations of the firm's large, fully managed supply chain clients. He has also led operational areas, including supply chain, pharmacy, and surgical services, at some of the nation's largest AMCs and for-profit health systems.
"Procured's proven track record at over 350 hospitals shows that the company's solutions are more than just software. They are a much-needed catalyst for change in the new paradigm of value which requires health systems to improve costs, quality, and outcomes. Procured's ability to impact all three metrics is incredibly powerful and unique," says Cunningham.
Sherry also brings immense expertise to his role as a strategic advisor where he will support Procured's continued growth by participating in market education and strategy initiatives. In addition to serving as a company advisor to Procured, Sherry is the Managing Partner at Sherry Consulting LLC, based in Park City, Utah, specializing in management consulting, organizational analysis and development of business plans. Prior to that, he was President and Chief Operating Officer at Broadlane, a leading supply chain services company. He was also on the Board of onFocus Healthcare and held several executive level positions at Owens & Minor. Sherry also serves as Board Chairman of the Program and Operations committee for Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Intermountain region.
"Procured has a profound understanding of the many challenges faced by supply chain leaders in the new world of value-based care. Their focus on physician engagement to drive an efficient and effective clinical spend management program is what differentiates Procured from other healthcare companies. I am very pleased to work with their forward-thinking team to support the delivery of better healthcare that is more efficient and affordable," says Sherry.
"We couldn't be more delighted that John and Tom are bringing their knowledge, insights, and passion to Procured. What's most exciting is that they share our mission of ensuring high quality and fiscally-responsible care and can help us to drive change at even more hospitals," says Hani Elias, CEO and Co-Founder of Procured. "We feel confident that we can better serve our clients with them on our team."
Procured Health's portfolio of solutions is designed to empower the buyers and users of medical products, and to improve clinical outcomes while also aggressively reducing medical product expenditures.
