Productions Scenat Receives Financial Support From Government of Canada

ROUYN-NORANDA, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Sept. 8, 2011) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces the awarding of $32,580 in non repayable funding to the firm Les Productions Scènat. Organizer of the Festival du cinéma international en Abitibi-Témiscamingue for 30 years, Productions Scènat will use this funding to conduct festival promotional, commercialisation and market development activities.

"The Government of Canada commends Productions Scènat on its initiative to attract more film buffs from outside Quebec," said Minister Lebel.

To that end, the Festival du cinéma international en Abitibi-Témiscamingue will be presenting part of its programming in the Quebec cities of Témiscaming and Ville-Marie bordering Northeastern Ontario. Promotion of the Festival will include the printing of documents and advertising.

Tourism is a promising growth sector for Abitibi-Témiscamingue, as are mining and the processing of agri-food and forest products. It is therefore in these areas that Canada Economic Development has chosen to concentrate its development efforts for the region.

This financial assistance has been awarded through Canada Economic Development's Community Diversification program.
