Productive Visit by Minister Lebel to Farnborough International Airshow in United Kingdom


MONTRÉAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - July 17, 2014) - Canada Economic Development for the Regions of Quebec

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, wrapped up a three-day visit to the Farnborough International Airshow during which he met with world aerospace industry leaders and held discussions with the Canadian and Quebec companies exhibiting in the show.

  • Aerospace is a key sector of the Canadian economy, and Quebec, with nearly 70% of the research and development and 60% of the manufacturing, is the industry nerve centre.
  • Minister Lebel took the opportunity while at the show to announce the awarding of $1.375 million in total funding to two Quebec enterprises through Canada Economic Development's Quebec Economic Development Program (QEDP).
  • Minister Lebel served as honorary president of the networking dinner organized by Aéro Montréal, which was attended by a number of Quebec and international aerospace industry executives. He delivered a keynote address on, among other topics, Canada's Defence Procurement Strategy (DPS) and the main changes brought to the Industrial and Technological Benefits (ITB) Policy.
