Professional Engineers Ontario to Honour MPPs, Recognize Workplace Health and Safety Supporters at Queen's Park Reception

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Oct. 8, 2013) - Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) will celebrate its 91st anniversary and recognize the contributions to the profession of three MPPs at a reception at Queen's Park on Wednesday, October 9. This will be the association's seventh reception at Queen's Park. The first was held in 2005 and coincided with the establishment of PEO's Government Liaison Program, which fosters dialogue between professional engineers and elected officials on the importance and direction of the self-regulated profession.

Speakers at the 2013 event will include the Hon. John Gerretsen, Attorney General, MPP Kingston and the Islands; Jim McDonell, P.Eng., PC Consumer Services Critic and MPP Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry; Catherine Fife, MPP Kitchener-Waterloo and NDP Critic for Research and Innovation, and Economic Development, Trade and Employment; Paul Acchione, P.Eng., president and chair, Ontario Society of Professional Engineers; and PEO President Annette Bergeron, MBA, P.Eng. In addition to the speakers, 40 MPPs are confirmed to attend.

The reception will feature a special presentation to three companies that have demonstrated a commitment to improving health and safety conditions in their industrial workplaces.
