The worldwide banking industry has been struck hard by the economic recession during the past years. While some stabilization has taken place during the past year, there is still much uncertainty surrounding the Mid-Atlantic Regional bank industry. This has caused many banks to downsize or be closed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). is a specialized website where investors can have specific access to free reports regional - mid-Atlantic banks industry; traders looking for analyst opinions on BB&T Corporation, Synovus Financial Corp. and other companies in this industry are welcomed to sign up for a free one year membership at

While a lull in bank closures has taken place in late August and early September, the FDIC has closed 119 banks to date in 2010. This compares to 140 closures in all of 2009 and 25 in 2008. The large quantity of bank closures should benefit the larger more healthy banks in the sector as they are able to absorb some of the assets of failed banks seized by the FDIC. While the near-term outlook for the banking industry is bad, many analysts believe the sector is normalizing as the economy and real-estate markets begin to show signs of a recovery, albeit a slow one.
