The Numbers Are in... Tustin, Calif.-Based Lighting and Energy-Efficiency Firm Doubles Energy Reduction From the Previous Year as It Continues to Help Businesses Become 'Greener' While Making the California Environment Safer

TUSTIN, CA--(Marketwire - January 23, 2008) - Progressive Lighting & Energy Solutions announced today that it helped California businesses reduce harmful carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) in the air by 15.6 million pounds in 2007 while helping them save $2.2 million in energy costs.

This equates to 13 million kilowatt hours of energy savings.

The company's goal for 2008 is to decrease emissions by 24 million pounds, which translates into savings of $2.8 million for California businesses, according to William Tauber, CEO of Progressive Lighting & Energy Solutions.

"Through Progressive Lighting & Energy Solutions, we lowered our monthly operating expense for consuming electricity by $3,000, we have 150 fewer tons of CO2 discharged into the atmosphere, we have more light for our team members to do their work, and we received a rebate check of $30,000 back from the utility company," says Joe Wildman, President of California Hardware in Ontario, Calif.

Progressive's list of clients in 2007 includes Hobie Cat, a leading manufacturer of kayaks and sailboats based in Oceanside, Calif. Progressive not only saved Hobie Cat $2,000 per month in energy costs -- nearly $24,000 annually -- but it also helped the company reduce harmful emissions by 100 tons per year. As a result of the reduction, Hobie Cat will receive $9,200 in rebates from its utility company.

"It's a good business decision overall that we did this and a smart thing from a 'green' perspective," says Hobie Cat VP of Operations Hugh Greenwald. "We're a greener company as a result. We want to do as much as we can from a green perspective. And when you consider the cost-savings, it's a no-brainer from a business and environmental perspective."

Since Progressive Lighting & Energy's startup in July 2004, it has reduced energy consumption by more 21 megawatt hours.

"Helping California corporations become greener in their energy usage through lighting efficiency measures equates to removing thousands of homes in California from the electrical grid," Tauber says.
