Prometric's DSST Business Discipline Exams Get an Update

BALTIMORE, MD--(Marketwire - August 26, 2009) - Prometric, a leading global provider of technology-enabled testing and assessment services and the administrator of the DSST credit by exam program, today announced that its suite of DSST exams in the Business discipline have been launched with new and improved content.

The four refreshed exams, Business Mathematics, Introduction to Business, Principles of Finance and Principles of Supervision, are now available in test centers across the U.S. and are accessible via the Internet to commercial and military students interested in earning quick college credits for a passing exam score.

The DSST credit by exam program offers a total of 37 exams in unique subject areas, and within the last year 14 of them have been updated with new content and scoring. The four newly updated exams in the Business suite are the latest to undergo an overhaul to maintain exam integrity and relevancy to the schools that leverage them as a flexible learning alternative. A refreshed practice exam is also available for each title.

"It is critical that the DSST exams go through regular evaluation and scrutiny of subject matter and content," said Nikki Eatchel, Vice President of Test Development at Prometric. "This is in order to keep them topical to the students who rely on them, consistent with the curriculums of the flexible institutions who leverage them and compliant with the rigorous standards of the American Council on Education (ACE), which recommends the exams for college credit."

New fact sheets, including content outlines for the refreshed exams are available on, the official DSST website.

About the DSST Program

Almost any adult who has gone back to school is familiar with credit by exam programs that allow them to earn college credit for life experience. The DSST program is Prometric's proprietary program of 37 exams in college subject areas such as Social Sciences, Math, Applied Technology, Business, Physical Sciences and Humanities. Learners who take and pass a DSST exam are given college credit applied toward their degree. DSST exams are administered by more than 1,200 colleges, universities and military facilities worldwide and are recommended for college credit by the American Council on Education (ACE). Close to 2000 colleges and universities offer course credit for a passing score on the DSSTs, offering a quick and easy way for current or future students of any age to "short cut" their degree program by saving them the time of having to sit in a class and the money of having to pay for it.
