Prominent Industry Leaders Join OCE Board of Directors

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 20, 2008) - The Ontario Centres of Excellence welcomes the election at its recent Annual General Meeting of two prominent industry leaders to its Board of Directors: Dr. Jayson Myers, President, Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters and Dr. Hadi Mahabadi, Vice President and Director, Xerox Research Centre of Canada.

"Dr. Myers and Dr. Mahabadi bring exceptional qualifications and invaluable industry and research experience to our Board," said David McFadden, OCE Board Chair. "Both are pioneers in their respective fields and will greatly enhance our efforts to support Ontario's Innovation Agenda."

As President of the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters, Dr. Myers leads Canada's largest industry and trade association. In addition, he chairs the Canadian Manufacturing Coalition, a coalition of over 40 industry associations, and is Vice-Chair of both the Ontario Manufacturing Council and the Great Lakes Manufacturing Council. In his former role as CME's Chief Economist, he led the association's Manufacturing 20/20 initiative, the largest cross-country consultation on the future of manufacturing in Canada.

Dr. Mahabadi, who holds over 60 U.S. patents, has been instrumental in managing the development and successful commercialization of several breakthrough technologies including Emulsion Aggregation, the new generation of printer toner technology introduced in 2001. The recipient of numerous awards, he earned Xerox's highest honor for individual achievement, the Xerox President's Award, as well as Xerox's Chester F. Carlson Award for the highest number of U.S. patents. Dr. Mahabadi is a member of several scientific societies and is a Fellow of the Chemical Institute of Canada and International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry.

Stepping down from the Board is Ken Carpenter, President and CEO, Burlington Technologies Inc. "I want to thank Ken for his outstanding contributions as an OCE Board member and for the insight and strategic guidance he provided as Chair of the Board of Management of OCE's Centre for Materials and Manufacturing" said McFadden.
