Prominex to Commence Drilling T-3 Lense at Tulks Hill

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 30, 2006) -

Mr. Lorne King reports:

Prominex Resource Corp. (TSX VENTURE:PXR) announced today that as part of its Phase I drill program, the Company has secured a helicopter-supported drill-rig and is commencing diamond drilling the T-3 lens. As previously reported, one of the objectives of the Phase 1 drill program was to test and confirm the pre 43-101 reported mineralization of the T-3 lens.

Previous operators report that the T-3 lense is the largest and is the most accessible of the 4 known lenses on the property due the underground workings in place. In 1980's, the Asarco Ltd./Abitibi-Price Ltd. Joint Venture carried out bulk sampling, metallurgical testing and completed a feasibility study and Asarco reported an inferred resource in the T-3 lense of 284,000 tonnes grading 6.43% zinc, 2.87% lead, 1.20 % copper, 51 g/t silver and 0.51 g/t gold. Base metal prices at the time were quite low compared to current levels.

During 1997 and 1998 United Bolero Development Corp. took a 2.0 tonne underground bulk sample at the bottom of the T-3 lens and had metallurgical testing performed by Lakefield Research Ltd. who reported 6.28% zinc, 4.98% lead, 2.36% copper, 60.8 g/t silver and 6.74 g/t gold.

The resource estimate and grades quoted herein is based on data and reports that were prepared by previous operators. The Company is not treating the mineral resource estimates as NI 43-101 defined resources verified by a qualified person. The Company cautions the reader that it has not completed the work necessary to verify the classification of the mineral resource estimates and that the historical estimates should not be relied upon.

The company is earning a 51% interest in the property from Buchans River Inc. (TSX VENTURE:BUV) (refer to news release of November 14, 2005). The property is located in the Tulks Volcanic Belt in central Newfoundland and is 12 kms northeast of the recent base metal deposit of Messina Mineral Inc. (TSX VENTURE:MMI).

Exploration on the Tulks Hill property is being conducted under the supervision of Paul O'Brien, B.Sc., P.Eng., Prominex's Vice President of Exploration and Development and a "qualified person" as defined by National Instrument 43-101. Mr. O'Brien is responsible for the preparation of technical information in this news release including information provided by project geologist Wilson Jacobs, B.Sc., P.Geo., who is also a qualified person as defined by N.I. 43-101.
