Promise Extends Its Leadership With Two New SAS/SATA Raid Controllers

Latest SuperTrak™ EX RAID Controllers Add External Connectivity Enabling a Full SAS RAID Portfolio for Seamless Datacenter-to-Desktop Protection

MILPITAS, CA--(Marketwire - March 3, 2008) - Promise Technology, Inc., a leading supplier of sophisticated RAID storage solutions for enterprise and SMB customers, today announced general availability of the SuperTrak EX8658 and SuperTrak EX8654 as two additional family members in its latest generation of SuperTrak EX host-based SAS/SATA RAID controllers.

"Promise offers a comprehensive series of SAS RAID solutions, covering the full spectrum of storage requirements with cost-effective products designed for performance and ease of use. Additional connectivity options are a practical and very functional supplement to this slate," said David G. Hill, principal, Mesabi Group LLC. "The SuperTrak line holds exceptional value to resellers, integrators and end-users who require the low cost option of host-based RAID with scalability based on the 12-bay or the 16-bay E-Class JBOD expansion chassis. Simply put, greater flexibility without added cost will always be a powerful plus in designing and implementing midrange RAID solutions."

These additions to Promise's SuperTrak EX family, like the previously announced members are built on a unified code base that spans both SuperTrak and VTrak product lines. They are also presented under a consistent management environment. Promise's WebPAM Pro allows an administrator to manage RAID storage attached to the SuperTrak EX RAID controllers or integrated into Promise's VTrak E-Class RAID subsystems from anywhere on the network.

"Very few suppliers can match Promise's extensive product range, which is particularly unique with its single code base and unified management interface across a broad scope of RAID solutions. The end result is an end-to-end SAS RAID offering which is easy to integrate and support, advantageous for both OEMs and system integrators," said Sam Sirisena, senior vice president sales and marketing and general manager, Advanced Storage Group, Promise Technology. "We provide single source reliability with RAID products validated from the desktop to the datacenter, an additional and valuable asset for our channel customers and end-users."

Promise's SuperTrak EX family of hardware-based RAID controllers now offers more RAID connectivity options in the low profile MD2 form factor with support for both SAS and SATA hard drives in the following configurations:

                   Internal External
SuperTrak Model SAS/SATA SAS/SATA
                   3Gbps Ports 3Gbps Ports
SuperTrak EX8658 8

SuperTrak EX8650 8

The SuperTrak EX 8654 and 8658 support RAID 5 and RAID 6 and are designed for data protection for entry-level and midrange server platforms running all popular Linux distributions as well as Windows. Customers with applications such as disk-to-disk backup, video capture, post production and database applications now have the ability to scale their data protection solutions even more cost effectively by combining the reliability, performance and ease of use in the SuperTrak EX 8654 or 8658 with Promise's VTrak E-Class JBOD expansion enclosures.
