Propell, ICBA Offer "Instant Ecommerce" for Independent College Stores

"PropellShops" System Lets Stores Offer Custom Products With Zero Risk

SAN ANSELMO, CA--(Marketwire - May 5, 2011) - Propell Corporation (OTCBB: PROP), provider of the PropellShops® "instant ecommerce" system for schools, businesses, nonprofits and the military (, today announced it will offer PropellShops "zero risk" online shops to members of Independent College Bookstore Association (ICBA) (, the only professional cooperative dedicated exclusively to institutional college stores.

PropellShops lets any college or university bookstore instantly add an online shop featuring a variety of personalized apparel and gifts -- branded with the logo or artwork of the school or any campus group -- without any investment in inventory. Since products displayed in a PropellShop are all made "on demand," meaning they are manufactured only when ordered, there is no risk for the retailer.

Independent College Bookstore Association's more than 140 member college stores have reported cumulative sales totaling more than $1.5 billion in annual sales in 2010, with an average of $10 million per member store, according to the ICBA.

"For ICBA members, this new partnership with PropellShops means they can have an 'endless aisle' online, in which they can introduce new products without any risk of having the wrong item, size, color or style, and never have left-over inventory," said Ed Bernstein, CEO of Propell. "They can partner with any group -- including fraternities, sororities or any campus organization -- for apparel customized for that group, again without any investment or risk. And every item can be personalized by the purchaser."

"We believe the Propell model, and the special program they've developed for ICBA, gives our members a real competitive edge in offering products online that require no shelf space or budget," said Marty Duncan, ICBA program manager. "Retailing is changing, and ecommerce is a big part of the future. The PropellShops service lets ICBA take advantage of new technology to expand sales while reducing risk."

College stores nationwide are facing a significant challenge with a new generation of customer accustomed to online shopping, social network-driven marketing -- and the prospect of digital delivery of their "bread and butter," textbooks. The National Association of College Stores (NACS) ( has reached out to its member stores nationwide with an invitation to begin building the "Bookstore of 2015" today, which includes initiatives to innovate in ways that Propell believes it offers today.

In the last 60 days, Propell has partnered with several additional college stores, including multiple shops expected to be launched with California State University at Chico, Foothill College, Chaffey College and Mt. San Antonio College. In addition, Propell already provides online shops for numerous K-12 schools and universities nationwide, including University of Rochester, Cal State San Marcos and Biola University, as well as licensing relationships with the Licensing Resource Group and Affinity Marketing for additional schools, conferences, and sororities and fraternities.

In addition to its new partnership with the Independent College Bookstore Association (, Propell is a strategic partner of the California Association of College Stores (, with more than 125 member stores on campuses throughout California; an associate member of the National Association of College Stores (, with more than 3,000 member stores nationwide; and a School Solutions Partner for the American Association of School Administrators (, the professional organization for more than 13,000 K-12 educational leaders in the United States and throughout the world.
