Prostate Cancer Canada: This Event Has Legs!

Raises Over $27,000 to Fund Prostate Cancer Research

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 23, 2010) - On March 10, 2010, over 200 of Toronto's most fun-loving revelers gathered at Trevor Kitchen and Bar to shed their pants and celebrate with "pant-less" abandon at the inaugural Pants Off for Prostate Cancer. Proving that Toronto's newest and most innovative fundraising event has "legs", Pants Off for Prostate Cancer (,) raised over $27,000 to help fund critical research into prostate cancer prevention and treatment, as well as raising awareness for prostate cancer and the importance of annual medical exams to detect and diagnose the disease as early as possible.

Given the event's resounding success, plans are already underway for the 2nd annual Pants Off for Prostate Cancer next year – make sure you don't miss it! In addition, the Toronto event committee has issued a friendly challenge to groups across Canada to organize Pants Off for Prostate Cancer events in their cities in support of Prostate Cancer Canada.

Pants Off for Prostate Cancer was generously sponsored by BMO Nesbitt Burns, Bowne & Co., Dundee Capital Markets, Fasken Martineau,, JOE BOXER®, Laurel Hill Advisory Group, Redwood Asset Management, RR Donnelley & Sons, Bay Street Rugby Football Club, DailyXY, Mill Street Brewery, Grey Goose®, and The Vine.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among Canadian men, affecting 1 in 6 Canadian men in their lifetime. In the coming year alone, over 25,000 Canadian men and their families will have to deal with the reality of a prostate cancer diagnosis. The good news is that prostate cancer can be successfully treated if diagnosed in its earliest stages (generally through regular annual check-ups). Prostate cancer is also thought to be potentially preventable, but more research is needed.

Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors and guests, Pants Off for Prostate Cancer, raised over $27,000 for Prostate Cancer Canada - for more information on Prostate Cancer Canada, please visit
