'Protect Public Services' - CUPE Nova Scotia Launches Radio and TV Ads

TRURO, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwire - Feb. 14, 2011) - With public sector budget cuts being the subject of much debate these days, CUPE Nova Scotia has launched a province-wide radio and TV ad campaign designed to remind people about the importance of public services.

CUPE Nova Scotia President Danny Cavanagh says, "Nova Scotians of all ages and in all walks of life rely on our members to provide quality, public services that build strong communities and allow each and every citizen a decent quality of life.

"People see CUPE members every day as they are going about their business. We're asking them to take the time to think about the important role we play in ensuring a good quality of life for all Nova Scotians," says Cavanagh.

"We also want to remind people that we all have an obligation to make sure we protect these valuable public services for generations to come," adds Cavanagh.

Says Cavanagh, "It's also important to remember that there are 18,000 CUPE members who shop at local stores and buy local products. Business leaders need to take heed of this when they are calling for cuts to public sector budgets."

The radio and TV ads will be running across the province over the next two weeks. They feature more than 30 different CUPE members from one end of the province to the other.

CUPE represents 18,000 women and men here in Nova Scotia. A YouTube version of the TV ad can be viewed here:
