Protexis E-commerce and Digital Rights Management Services Announce Support for .NET Framework-based Applications

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(CCNMatthews - Sep 27, 2005) -

Protexis Inc., provider of hosted e-commerce and digital rights management services for software publishers, today announced that it has added support for Microsoft ® .NET Framework-based applications to its Protexis Publisher Services. The Publisher Services platform is a complete suite of on-demand, revenue-enhancing services that help software publishers prepare, market and sell software titles when, where and how they choose.

Protexis Publisher Services allow software publishers to add customer registration, copy protection, trial capability, and full e-commerce to titles in as little as 15 minutes. The Publisher Services package can include all of these services, or various combinations are also available to round out the licensing and e-commerce features a publisher may have already implemented. These services use a post-compile method of integration and a flexible, web-enabled process for selecting these core services, giving publishers a quick, easy and cost-effective path to secure online sales, without touching their products' code.

"With the momentum we're seeing in the adoption of our services, we need to provide scaleable, responsive options for software publishers. This strategic addition to our services is a direct response to market demand, as more and more software is being developed on the .NET Framework," said Henning Riebe, vice president of product development at Protexis.

According to a May 2004 study by Forrester Research, .NET was preferred by 56% to 44% over J2EE in North American firms as their primary development platform. In July 2005, Forrester also reported that Visual Basic .NET and C# are strategic languages for future enterprise application development and have a current penetration of 34% and 15%, respectively.
