Protexis Provides Licensing and E-Commerce Solution for Enterbrain

VANCOUVER, B.C.--(CCNMatthews - Oct 3, 2005) -

Protexis Inc., provider of e-commerce and digital rights management (DRM) hosted services for software publishers, today announced it is providing a full licensing and e-commerce solution for Enterbrain, Inc., a leading publisher in the Japanese videogame market. To help Enterbrain generate greater revenues and protect their products against piracy, Protexis is enabling Enterbrain products with trial capabilities, licensing and complete e-commerce support for international sale and distribution.

The latest version of Enterbrain's popular game development tool, RPG Maker XP, was released on September 15, 2005. It is now available for download in a trial format, which converts to a full-version format upon purchase. Both formats are protected by Protexis' patented technology.

"The release of RPG Maker XP has been long awaited in the gaming market. Enabled with our trial, licensing and e-commerce solutions, it demonstrates the global appeal of our technology and services, as well as their applicability to this market. Enterbrain was able to leverage our expertise to implement best practices for the licensing and sale of their products," said Karl Hirsch, president and chief executive officer of Protexis.

Enterbrain selected Protexis for its hosted, outsourced licensing and e-commerce solution, based on a variety of factors including Protexis' experience with other Japanese publishers and its recent foray into the gaming market. As a hosted, neutral licensing and e-commerce provider, Protexis provides trusted visibility of product licensing activity and offers Enterbrain the opportunity to continually expand its global reach through all available distribution channels.

"With Protexis licensing and e-commerce in place, we're already experiencing increased trial downloads and sales of RPG Maker XP. In fact, our trial-to-sale conversion ratio is at double the industry average. We're also expecting decreased piracy and unauthorized use due to the use of Protexis' product activation technology. The Protexis hosted solution provided us with the flexibility we needed, while not tying up vast amounts of development resources," said Mr. Sugiuchi Kenji, chief producer at Enterbrain.

Some of the standard features provided by Protexis in this agreement include online payment processing and transaction management, product-integrated purchase capabilities, branded purchase and service experience, serial number generation and distribution, multi-currency and localized payment methods, fraud prevention and credit card verification, and online reporting.
