Provident Bank Strengthens Hudson Valley Banking Team

MONTEBELLO, NY--(Marketwired - Jun 27, 2013) -   Provident Bank, a subsidiary of Provident New York Bancorp (NYSE: PBNY), announced the addition of David Apps and William Griffiths to its northern and central market banking teams. In addition to the senior bankers' commercial banking experience they bring regional knowledge to Provident clients in Rockland, Orange, Sullivan, Ulster, Dutchess, and Putnam counties. Provident Bank has 17 teams dedicated to serving the needs of businesses throughout the greater New York metropolitan area.

Mr. Apps has successfully developed new business for several major financial institutions during his over 40-year career in corporate banking and finance. As a managing director, Mr. Apps will join the team led by Chris Fiorillo, senior managing director, and be responsible for cultivating and growing middle market banking client relationships.

Prior to joining Provident, Mr. Apps was managing director of Royal Bank of Scotland where he developed the bank's North American presence in several sectors including transportation, entertainment and construction. He also served as senior vice president at NatWest Markets where he guided the company's North American corporate business reorganization.

Mr. Griffiths has spent the majority of his 23-year commercial banking career serving the Hudson Valley region. He has established relationships with entrepreneurs and business in all stages of growth, with a primary focus on small- and middle- market businesses. As a managing director, Mr. Griffiths will develop and grow commercial banking relationships with middle market businesses throughout the region. He will work with the team led by Marianne McGoldrick, senior managing director.

Prior to joining Provident, Mr. Griffiths was senior vice president of commercial lending for Rhinebeck Bank where he led a team of portfolio managers, community and commercial lenders. He also held senior lending positions at Hudson Valley Bank, Charter One Bank, and Hudson United Bank.
