Proxim Wireless Expands Public Safety and Homeland Security Product Portfolio

Newest Tsunami Point-to-Multipoint and Point-to-Point Products Provide Backhaul Connectivity for the 4.9 GHz Frequency Band

SAN JOSE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 21, 2007 -- Proxim Wireless Corporation, a global pioneer of end-to-end solutions in Wi-Fi® mesh, WiMAX, MeshMAX™, WLAN, and wireless backhaul and wholly-owned subsidiary of Terabeam, Inc. (NASDAQ: TRBM), today announced that it has expanded its Public Safety and Homeland Security product line to include the Tsunami™ MP.11 4954-R and Tsunami QuickBridge.11 4954-R. These products can be used together with Proxim's AP4900MR-LR mesh access point products to extend a network operating in the 4.9 GHz frequency band by using high bandwidth licensed point-to-multipoint and point-to-point backhaul. This results in a secure connection, using a licensed backhaul product, to extend a network back to the wired infrastructure.

The product line additions include the new Tsunami MP.11 4954-R point-to-multipoint base station and subscriber units, featuring a high speed mobile roaming mode, and the new Tsunami QuickBridge.11 4954-R point-to-point bridge. Both products address a wide range of applications including inter-agency connectivity, voice and data backhaul, security and surveillance networks, mobile connectivity for emergency first responders, and disaster recovery. A wireless infrastructure that can support these applications can provide significant time and cost savings to public safety departments, homeland security agencies, and municipalities.

"With the introduction of these products, Proxim Wireless is further demonstrating our strong commitment to the public safety and homeland security markets," said Geoff Smith, Vice President of Worldwide Marketing and Product Management, Proxim Wireless. "We now provide a complete and secure high performance, high capacity infrastructure in the 4.9 GHz frequency band from the backhaul to the edge, and easily managed by ProximVision™, our centralized management platform."

Key Features and Benefits

Both sets of new products are housed in ruggedized outdoor enclosures for deployment in extreme weather conditions. They feature QoS for packet prioritization and support dedicated bandwidth management so that video and voice are transmitted error free and with minimal latency. They also support advanced encryption with AES to protect over-the-air transmission as well as orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) to enhance near-line-of-sight performance with dynamic data rate selection which chooses the optimal rate. Supported channels include 5MHz, 10MHz and 20MHz, with data rates from 1.5 to 54Mbps.

Pricing and Availability

The Tsunami MP.11 4954-R base station is available now at a US list price of $2,999; subscriber units are also available now with US list prices starting at $1,499. The Tsunami QuickBridge.11 4954-R bundle is available at a US list price of $4,499.
