MILAN, ITALY--(Marketwire - October 15, 2008) - iPass Inc. (NASDAQ : IPAS ) a global provider of
services that unify the management of enterprise mobility, today announced
that the Prysmian Group, a world leader in energy and communication cables
and systems, has chosen iPass Mobile Office to provide mobile connectivity
to its mobile workforce worldwide. A leading player in the industry of
high-technology cables and systems for energy and telecommunications,
Prysmian is a truly global company with more than 12,000 employees.
Prysmian evaluated iPass Mobile Office, benchmarking it against its
existing remote access solution. The iPass service stood out for its
usability and extensive global Wi-Fi footprint, which includes over 100,000
Wi-Fi hotspots and coverage in more than 80 of the world's top hundred
airports by passenger traffic. Mobile Office also met Prysmian's need for a
solution that would interoperate with internal and third-party
applications.
"We are delighted to have made Prysmian another happy iPass customer, one
of our first headquartered in Italy," stated Rene Hendrikse, managing
director EMEA for iPass. "We pride ourselves on being able to leverage our
long-standing expertise in enterprise mobility to meet the complex needs of
worldwide leaders like Prysmian who are embracing the productivity benefits
of mobile work."
A wide variety of users located all around the world use the iPass Mobile
Office service at Prysmian, from IT staff to sales managers. Given the
ease-of-use of the iPassConnect mobility manager interface, no specific
training was required. Once the technical roll out was completed, Prysmian
mobile users were ready to go. Prysmian is planning a further service
extension to include smart phones and PDAs.
"The transition to iPass was extremely smooth, and in a very limited
timeframe, we were able to provide Wi-Fi connectivity to our end users
worldwide," recalls Holger Lesch, IT Project Manager at Prysmian. "We have
operations in 36 countries, and our users need to access business-critical
information and to communicate easily with colleagues, customers and
partners from all over the world. With iPass we found a platform that we
can always rely on."
"The ability to manage all connections from a central console and to track
them for administrative purposes has also been of significant value. From
our IT center in Milan, we have complete visibility into all connections,
which streamlines and optimizes our managerial tasks," said Lesch.
"Prysmian has enjoyed a strong partnership with iPass throughout the
implementation period and beyond. The relationship is proving to be very
open and positive, as they have been very flexible in addressing all our
requests. We feel we are genuinely treated like valued customers."
