Psilos Group and Healthegy Debut New Weekly Podcast Called "Breaking Health" to Spotlight Healthcare CEOs and Others Disrupting the Industry

Innovators Needed to Address the Most Sweeping Changes in Healthcare in 50 Years, Say Digital Healthcare VC Firm Psilos Group and HealthCare Media Group, Healthegy

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Oct 1, 2015) - Psilos Group, a digital healthcare venture capital firm, and Healthegy, a healthcare media group, announced the debut today of a new weekly podcast series entitled "Breaking Health."

The Breaking Health Podcast will feature the innovators, investors and entrepreneurs who are building the technology and tools to break down and build up the country's ailing health care system. With successful health care investor Steve Krupa, CEO of the Psilos Group, as host, Breaking Health will deliver the earliest insights on the ongoing Digital Health Revolution.

"Psilos and Healthegy have teamed up to showcase the steps a new generation of disruptors are taking to break the mold and transform the healthcare industry. We wanted to profile them," said Psilos CEO, Krupa.

"Scary headlines about rising healthcare spending and inflation, affordability issues, inefficiencies and shaky Medicare finances pop up all the time, amplifying the sense that little is being done to fix these problems," Krupa said. "But innovation is happening. Venture capitalists have invested an enormous amount of capital to lower cost and improve the quality of healthcare."

Craig Simak, the founder and managing director of Healthegy, added that healthcare is a sluggish, change-resistant industry being slammed in all directions by the biggest spate of change in decades.

"Healthcare continues to be an area with enormous unmet needs and there are leaders in this industry who are changing the world. We believe people want to hear about these innovations and from the leaders in their own voices," Simak said.

The inaugural "Breaking Health" guest will be Robert Mittendorff, MD, and a principal at Norwest Venture Partners. He has more than a decade of operational and medical experience and is a board-certified emergency physician. He focuses on investing in young companies involved in digital health and healthcare IT, technology-enabled healthcare services, medical devices, diagnostics and specialty pharmaceuticals.

Mittendorf chairs Healthegy's Digital Healthcare Innovation Summit being held Nov. 3 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Boston. Modeled after successful podcasts in Healthegy's other verticals, Breaking Health will allow attendees and the broader Digital Healthcare community to hear from the leading CEOs and innovators in Digital Health all year-long.

Additional guests scheduled to date include Dan Burton, CEO, Health Catalyst, a healthcare data warehousing and analytics company.

Burton's firm has developed a three-pronged approach embracing analytics, best practices and a set of adoption processes to improve healthcare outcomes. In the past, Burton was a consultant with Boston Consulting Group, where he advised healthcare systems and technology companies.
