PTGi (Primus Telecommunications Group Inc.) to Ring The Closing Bell® at the New York Stock Exchange to Celebrate Company's Achievements

Company Began Trading June 27 on NYSE With "PTGI" Ticker Symbol

MCLEAN, VA--(Marketwire - Sep 28, 2011) - PTGi (Primus Telecommunications Group, Incorporated) (NYSE: PTGI) announced that its Chairman, President & CEO Peter D. Aquino will ring The Closing Bell today at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). The company's participation in The Closing Bell ceremony celebrates the start of its trading on the NYSE under the ticker symbol, "PTGI," as well as the company's strategic achievements over the past year.

"We are excited to have listed on the NYSE, and see this as an important next step in the company's evolution. It offers our stockholders greater trading liquidity and raises our visibility," Aquino said. "In the past twelve months, we have made key investments in the value of the PTGi portfolio, important strides in improving our profitability and cash flow, and transformed our balance sheet. The New York Stock Exchange listing affirms our strategy and our intention to deliver improved returns to stockholders."

Aquino added that the PTGi's family of companies has a new focused direction and the collective financial and managerial strengths and resources to realize the value inherent in its asset portfolio.

For example, PTGi Australia is one of that country's largest full-service carriers with an established national brand and is focused on serving commercial and residential customers. The company has three datacenter facilities, two in Melbourne and one in Sydney, with a strategy in place to capture large opportunities with mid-market small and mid-sized commercial businesses and the potential to move up to larger enterprises. PTGi Australia's iPrimus residential services division has been selected by NBNCo, the company building Australia's National Broadband Network (NBN), as a "first release" retail service provider for the first five trial sites of the NBN in mainland Australia.

PTGi Canada serves a mix of consumer and business customers over a national MPLS network. Its Primus-branded service enjoys a well-recognized position as a value-based telecommunications and data services alternative to the country's incumbents. With seven datacenters in five top metro markets in the country, PTGi Canada is targeting medium to enterprise commercial customers to capture the growing demand for cloud, managed services, and colocation. The company aims to leverage its highly skilled talent in datacenter design, construction, and management to capture market expansion for these services.

PTGi's International Carrier Services group combines the former Primus International Wholesale Services and the recently acquired Arbinet Corporation. This acquisition enhanced its competitiveness and ability to serve the diverse needs of its customers around the world. It provides an expanded global footprint, additional sales presence, and increased coverage in the Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe regions. In addition, PTGi ICS is now uniquely positioned to fulfill customers' wholesale needs regardless of their sourcing preferences. ICS can offer customers the option either to acquire direct international connections through traditional interconnect arrangements or to manage their access needs through the world's leading online voice trading exchange -- thexchange(SM).

PTGi's North American retail business is transforming from a long-distance voice and prepaid card unit to "IP everywhere." Through its Lingo™ brand and PTGi Business Services, its "plug and play" products are designed to increase new customer acquisitions via web-based and self-service applications. These products and services are competitive with those of our Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) peers. In addition, it is positioned to expand into new markets to capture demand for higher end IP-PBX services, beginning with Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas, and Puerto Rico.
