SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwired - May 18, 2015) -  Tonight California voters have one last chance to submit questions and comments directly to the proponents of the statewide initiative, "The Marijuana Control, Legalization and Revenue Act of 2016," (MCLR). The MCLR steering committee will be hosting a Community Outreach conference call today, May 18th at 6:30pm PT. Where:
Conference call number: 323-920-0091
Access Code: 8388080#

"Tonight is an opportunity for everyone to speak directly to the MCLR team. We are continuing the community based process that created MCLR," says John Lee, Director of Americans for Policy Reform. "Our goal has always been to ensure everyone had a chance to provide feedback on the initiative. We are excited to see a similar process included in California's initiative code, yet there has been very little public response to the Attorney General's web site so far. We hope our outreach can help highlight the new feature of California's initiative process."

The Attorney General's (AG) office will close the public comment period on Wednesday, May 20. After a five day revision period, MCLR will submit an amended draft for the 30 day Title & Summary and Fiscal Analysis process. MCLR 2016 would then be ready for signature gathering.

MCLR was developed as the first "open-source" or "crowd-sourced" method for direct public contribution to the language of California's marijuana legalization law. The initiative ultimately includes concepts and concerns from thousands of the state's citizens, granting Californians the freedom to, "possess, furnish, process, use, grow, transport and sell cannabis subject to reasonable regulation and taxation in a manner similar to alcohol."
