Public Mobile Opens 60 New Distribution Channels

Co-Branded Gateway Newstand Locations Now Open

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 15, 2010) - Gateway Newstand locations have a new look and a new partner. Starting today, the newsstand operator is selling Public Mobile phones and allowing customers to pay their bills at select Gateway locations.

A total of 60 Gateway stores are now co-branded with Public Mobile signs and also provide Public Mobile services. By January there will be a total of 120 stores carrying the Gateway /Public Mobile banner.

The stores feature innovative formats in countertop displays as well as floor stands in the larger locations. There is also a simple self-serve model where customers can select from several available handsets, including the new ZTE-C70 priced at $50. This allows a customer to purchase a phone and a $24 unlimited talk plan and leave the store for under $75. Public Mobile also has a limited time offer that is good at all Gateway locations. Customers receive a discount on all handsets. At Gateway stores that means people can choose between the ZTE C-70 for $50 and the Kyocera Tomo for $80 ($30 off the regular price). The offer ends on October 3rd.

"Public Mobile wants to make it simple and affordable to own a cell phone. There are no credit checks, no contracts and no surprises. We want to make it just as easy to make a payment. Our partnership with Gateway provides the 1.5 million people who ride the TTC each day with quick and convenient access to our services," said Public Mobile CEO, Alek Krstajic.

"Gateway is excited to be a key distribution point for Public Mobile. Because Gateway stores are in so many bus and subway stations, it makes it easy for Public Mobile customers to pay their phone bill at the same time they pick up a newspaper. Gateway will also continue to provide customers with our full range of newsstand items," said Michael Aychental, CEO of Gateway Newstands.
