Public Safety Minister Toews and Citizenship and Immigration Minister Kenney Commend the CBSA and CIC on the Removal of Samrat Dhuna

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 18, 2010) - The Honourable Vic Toews, Minister of Public Safety, and the Honourable Jason Kenney, Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, today made the following statement regarding the successful removal from Canada of Samrat Dhuna, an individual convicted of manslaughter, assault, and other Criminal Code offences.

"I would like to thank the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) officials who were instrumental in removing Samrat Dhuna from our country. Once again, this Government is demonstrating our commitment to protecting Canada's borders," said Minister Toews. "We will not tolerate those who come to this country and commit violent crimes. This Government is committed to protecting the safety and security of Canadians."

Minister Jason Kenney added: "The removal of violent foreign criminals is key to maintaining the integrity of Canada's immigration system and protecting Canadians. I commend the CBSA and immigration officials whose diligent work resulted in the removal of Samrat Dhuna from Canada."
