Public Service Announcement-Army Rehearsing Emergency Response

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 27, 2007) - Approximately six hundred Army Reserve soldiers from the Greater Toronto Area will be called out to handle a notional flood in King Township and Aurora December 7 to 9.

Routes affected by military traffic will be Industrial Boulevard in Aurora and the exit from Highway 404 leading to Aurora. In and around Aurora's parks you may see soldiers conducting patrols either in vehicles or on foot. Army engineers will also be setting up a high-tech water purification system while other soldiers conduct search and rescue missions, build dykes, or perform similar tasks. Some soldiers will have weapons while they practise security tasks.

The 32nd Canadian Brigade Group is an Army Reserve formation of some 2300 part-time troops based in local armouries from downtown Toronto to Barrie and Owen Sound. The brigade includes units of infantry, artillery, reconnaissance, engineers and logistical troops.
