Public Service Announcement: Army Relay Team Arrives at Queen's Park

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Sept. 2, 2014) - Soldiers of Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) will conduct a baton relay on September 6, 2014 between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. They will travel west on Carlton Street and end at Queen's Park.

They are participating in the Memorial Baton Relay (MBR), a team comprised of soldiers running with a baton containing the names of 1,866 PPCLI members who have fallen in active service to Canada. The MBR team is re-tracing the symbolic route taken by the Originals as they marshaled for service in 1914 on the eve of the First World War. The Memorial Baton is being relayed to Ottawa where it will arrive on September 18, 2014.

Motorists can expect delays from support vehicles and are urged to exercise caution when driving near the soldiers.

Those interested in meeting the MBR team are invited to a mobile military display at Queen's Park between 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. For more information on this and other PPCLI 100th Anniversary activities:
