OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 1, 2013) - Approximately 40 army reservists from the Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Highlanders of Cornwall (SD&G Highlanders) will conduct Exercise RIVER ICE north of Val-Des-Mont QC in the Cook Lake area on the weekend of 01-03 February, 2013.
Training will be conducted exclusively on private land and the surrounding population will not be affected; however they are asked to remain vigilant during this time as soldiers will be moving by snow shoe or skis and conducting training. The SD&G Highlanders have been deploying to this location for a number of years and training there has become a tradition, giving soldiers the opportunity to learn winter survival skills.
The SD&G Highlanders is an army reserve infantry unit based in Cornwall, Ont. which is part of 33 Canadian Brigade Group (33 CBG) that comprises 15 army reserve units across eastern Ontario, spanning from Cornwall to Oshawa to Timmins, Ont.
