Public Service Announcement: Artillery Gun Firing for Army Reserve Recognition Day

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 2, 2012) - On October 3, 2012 between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. an artillery howitzer will fire one blank round near City Hall. This will cause a loud percussive sound and may alarm some people.

This is part of a commemoration event by the City of Ottawa for Army Reserve Recognition Day. This event pays tribute to reservists across the Canadian Army in recognition of their contribution to Canada as outstanding citizen soldiers.

Approximately 30 Army Reservists from across 33 Canadian Brigade Group (33 CBG) will participate in this event in conjunction with the Mayor of Ottawa.

33 Canadian Brigade Group (33 CBG) is headquartered in Ottawa. It comprises 15 Army Reserve units across eastern and northern Ontario, in locations spanning an area from Cornwall to Oshawa to Timmins. There are approximately 2,000 personnel employed in Army Reserve Units within the brigade throughout 20 communities.
