Public Service Announcement: Canadian Forces Reservists Conduct Training in Gatineau Park


OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 23, 2013) - Approximately 70 army reservists and cadets from the Governor General's Foot Guards (GGFG) will participate in Exercise WINTER WARRIOR in the Lac Phillippe sector of Gatineau Park on the weekend of 25-27 January, 2013.

Visitors to the park will not be affected, however they are asked to remain vigilant during this time as soldiers will be moving by snow shoe or skis and conducting training in the park. No Service rifles or any type of ammunition will be used during this training. Exercise WINTER WARRIOR is being conducted to allow soldiers to learn winter survival skills in preparation for Exercise TRILLIUM RESPONSE 13, in Northern Ontario.

The GGFG is an army reserve infantry unit based in Ottawa which is part of 33 Canadian Brigade Group (33 CBG) that comprises 15 army reserve units across eastern Ontario, spanning from Cornwall to Oshawa to Timmins, ONT.
