Public Service Announcement-FORTISSIMO: Guns to Fire and Road Closures


OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Aug. 8, 2013) - During Fortissimo, the Ceremonial Guard wi ll fire a feu de joie and artillery guns as part of a performance of the Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, from the lawns of Parliament Hill for three nights from Wednesday August 8 to Saturday August 10, 2013.

Wellington Street will be closed from O'Connor Street to Elgin Street on August 9 and 10, 2013 from 6:30 pm to 7:10 pm.

Fortissimo is a free military concert and sunset ceremony that has occurred on the lawns of Parliament since 1997. The performances are August 8 to 10, 2013, at 7 p.m. on Parliament Hill.

Local residents may be alerted to the loud noise caused by the guns firing with a single round at 7:05 p.m and again at 8:00 p.m., with 30-second intervals, lasting for a 5 minute period.
