Public Service Announcement: Local Artillery Unit to Fire Gun Salute for His Royal Highness Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh


TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - April 25, 2013) - Local Army Reserve unit 7 Toronto Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery, will be firing a 21-gun salute from the grounds behind the Legislative Building, Queen's Park, on Saturday April 27, 2013.

The salute honours the participation of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh at a military parade occurring at Queen's Park. His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh will be presenting a new Regimental Colour to the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment. This event is one of many where the City of Toronto and the Canadian Armed Forces will commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Battle of York.

Local residents may be alerted to the loud noise caused by the firing which is expected to start at 10 a.m., with 20-second intervals, lasting for a 10-minute period.
