Public Service Announcement: Local Artillery Unit to Fire Gun Salute for Canada Day

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - June 30, 2014) - Local army reserve unit 30th Field Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery, will be firing two 21-Gun salutes on Parliament Hill as part of the Canada Day celebrations on Tuesday July 1, 2014.

Four C3 Howitzers will be used for the 21-Gun salute which entails firing 21 rounds of blank ammunition at 10-second intervals. Each salute will last for approximately four minutes. Residents are advised that this salute is purely ceremonial in nature and that at no time will safety or security be in jeopardy. Local residents may be alerted by the loud noise caused by the firing.
