Public Service Announcement: Memorial Motorcade for Our Fallen Comrade

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 9, 2010) - The motorcade carrying our fallen comrade, Sgt Martin Rene Goudreault of 1 Combat Engineer Regiment, based in Edmonton, Alberta, will be travelling on Highway 401 West, this afternoon.

Sergeant Martin Goudreault was serving in Afghanistan as a member of the 1st Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment Battle Group. He was killed after an improvised explosive device detonated during a foot patrol, about 15 kilometres southwest of Kandahar City, in the Panjwayi District, at approximately 6:30 a.m. Kandahar time on 6 June 2010.

The aircraft carrying our fallen comrade will arrive at 8 Wing, CFB Trenton at 2:00 p.m. The motorcade is expected to leave the base at 2:45 p.m. travelling west on the "Highway of Heroes." It is expected to arrive in Toronto at approximately 4:30 p.m. Motorists are advised that this may cause a delay in rush-hour traffic.
