Public Service Announcement: Military Exercise In Thetford Mines - Occasional Noise from Light Weapon Fire and Helicopter Flight

VALCARTIER, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - March 9, 2016) - Thetford Mines residents and visitors may hear light weapon fire or see military helicopters fly over the area on March 10 and 11, 2016. These manoeuvres are part of an exercise of 2nd Battalion, Royal 22e Régiment, which will take place at the Granilake mine (Black Lake sector).

Weapon fire will take place both day and evening, while two Griffon helicopters will fly strictly during the day.

Safety measures related to the exercise will be implemented. Members of the public are nevertheless asked to stay clear of the site during the indicated period.

This training is aimed primarily at providing infantrymen with the opportunity to enhance their knowledge in an area unfamiliar to them. It should also allow flight personnel of the 430 Tactical Helicopter Squadron (Valcartier) to maintain their qualifications, in compliance with the existing regulations.
