Public Service Announcement: Military Training Near Cochrane, Kapuskasing, Hearst and Constance Lake

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 7, 2012) - Canadian Forces personnel from across Ontario will conduct military training in the vicinity of Cochrane, Mistango Lake, Kapuskasing, Hearst and Constance Lake, Ontario, from February 14 to 26, 2012, as part of Exercise TRILLIUM RESPONSE 2012.

Soldiers and military vehicles including snowmobiles will be seen in these areas, as well as low flying aircraft including large transport aircraft and helicopters. Military vehicles can be expected to travel at reduced speeds and motorists are advised to exercise care and patience when encountering military vehicles and soldiers on foot or on snowmobiles.

The purpose of Exercise TRILLIUM RESPONSE 2012 is to increase Canadian Forces operational readiness by practicing domestic operations in support of a simulated large scale commercial aircraft crash in a remote area during the winter months. The exercise will revolve around reported aircraft crashes outside of Cochrane in the Mistango Lake area, and northwest of Hearst near Constance Lake. No actual aircraft will be crashed as part of the exercise.
