Public Service Announcement: Military Vehicles Travelling to Exercise STALWART GUARDIAN 2015

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Aug. 12, 2015) - The public is advised to expect a high volume of Canadian Armed Forces vehicles on Ontario roads on August 15 and 16, travelling from units across Ontario to Garrison Petawawa for Exercise STALWART GUARDIAN 2015.

Drivers are asked to be patient and cautious as the convoys will comprise civilian pattern and military pattern trucks, light armoured vehicles, chartered buses, and transport trucks. These convoys may cause significant congestion as they transit north and north-east, in particular along highways 11N, 60E and 41N.

Nearly 1,500 Canadian Army personnel from across Ontario will conduct military training in the Garrison Petawawa training area, from August 15 to 30, 2015, as part of Exercise STALWART GUARDIAN 2015. The goal of this training is to present soldiers of 4th Canadian Division of the Canadian Army with several challenging and realistic scenarios to build their capacity and preparedness. Exercises such as STALWART GUARDIAN are an important way to develop and maintain critical skills and be prepared to assist Canadians when and where military assistance is needed.
