Public Service Announcement: RCAF Honour Gilles Lamontagne with CH-146 Griffon Fly Past


QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - June 18, 2016) - National Defence / Canadian Armed Forces

Residents of Quebec City may see and hear two Royal Canadian Air Force CH-146 Griffon helicopters over city skies on Saturday 18 June in honour of Gilles Lamontagne who passed away on Wednesday at age 97.

The helicopter flyby is part of funeral activities for the former Quebec City Mayor and Minister of National Defence. Lamontagne also served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War, was held prisoner of war for two years in Germany, and named an Officer of the Order of Canada in 1991.

The funeral starts at 11 a.m. and the flyby will follow shortly after.

Flybys conducted by the Royal Canadian Air Force are carefully planned and closely controlled to ensure public safety at all times.
