Public Service Announcement Script: Health Canada Decision on the Labelling of Cough and Cold Products for Children

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 23, 2008) - On December 18th, Health Canada issued a Public Advisory to inform consumers on the outcome of its review of cough and cold medicines for children under the age of 12. As noted in the Advisory, Health Canada is requiring manufacturers to relabel over-the-counter cough and cold medicines that have dosing information for children to indicate that these medicines should not be used in children under 6.

To further extend the reach of this Advisory, the department has developed a public service announcement script for the use of radio media. The English version of the script is available at the following address: http://media3.marketwire.com/docs/pa1223.pdf

The December 18th Advisory can be accessed at http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/ahc-asc/media/advisories-avis/_2008/2008_184-eng.php

Feedback on the script can be directed to: info-media@hc-sc.gc.ca
