In honour of Queen Victoria's Birthday, the Pugualug Club presents the first annual Pugtoria Tea Party. This promises to be a great event. We invite you, the media to come out a partake in a slightly 'different' celebration of Queen Victoria and (her) the Pug Dog. Queen Victoria did much for the Pug breed in England and this is our little way of saying "Thank You".

The Pugalug Club, has many friends in the Toronto community who are donating their time and talents to make this event a success. The May 23 afternoon agenda, as follows:

When you enter you will hear the soothing sounds of Mary Kathryn Stevens and Emma Quackenbush from the Royal Conservatory of Music playing Cello and Violin.
On display will be a peanut butter / Carob cake in the shape of the Victoria Cross. This is being generously donated by Kate Williamson of Best Friend Organic Dog Treats who will be on hand to talk about her treats.

Collen Zuber, The Dremmel Lady, will be on hand for Pug Pedicures. Colleen will have her Dremmel setup and be doing pugs' nails for $10 per pug (a portion will go to the Pugalug Club). Fast, easy and best of all - no clipping. What a bargain!

A portrait of Queen Victoria and Bosco the Pug courtesy of Marusia will hang from the drinking water pipes.

At 2:45 the participating pugs will retire to the dressing room to put on their fashionable attire (with a little help from their friends). Meanwhile a large table cloth will be setup in the centre of the room. Spectators will form a larger circle around the centre piece.

At 2:55, Pugalug Club President Larry St. Aubin will give a short speech about what the heck a Pugtoria Tea Party is all about.

At 3:00 our musicians will begin the processional musical accompaniment. The participating fancy dressed pugs will enter with their attendants and proceed to the tablecloth.
They will circle once around while the attendants are given plates with slices of the Victoria Cross cake.
Spectators will have bowls of homemade chicken broth for the toast.

Attendants will ensure that the pugs are aware that they hold cake and broth in their hands. The pugs attention will remain focused on the plates and bowls.

At 3 pm, we will all turn toward the portrait and raise the plates and bowls high to toast the queen (the pugs' eyes will follow the direction of the hands)

After the toast the attendants will slowly bring down the plates of cake/bowls of broth and deftly place them before the pugs whereupon the pugs will feast and wag their tails to the queen. Afterwards, much merriment, lip-licking, socializing and pug zooming will ensue.

This is also the official launch of the Pugalug Club
