Pull Focus Film School Seeks to Engage Youth in New Ways

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - April 19, 2011) - In the spirit of grassroots social change, Pull Focus Film School brings together emerging filmmakers, activists and non-profit practitioners in an environment that encourages conversation, collaboration and engagement in social change.

Operating out of Gastown in Vancouver, BC - the non-profit film school offers intensive, affordable film/media courses including documentary filmmaking, filmmaking for the web and political animation. Pull Focus works with organizations like The David Suzuki Foundation and AIDS Vancouver to empower students to raise awareness about issues they care about and expose the ambitious efforts being undertaken by the non-profit community.

"Our goal is to get young people excited about social change – we do that by giving them something tangible to do," says program director Steve Rosenberg. "They definitely leave here more passionate and engaged than when they arrived."

Pull Focus celebrates its spring program with an Open House at 7pm on April 26that 306 Abbott Street in Gastown. Come experience the 'social change' spirit, in tandem with the exciting evolution of the local media landscape.
