TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 19, 2011) -

Pulse The World, a location-based, real-time mobile app for iPhone, has partnered with Scotiabank BuskerFest to release the latest version of their app and provide a unique and engaging experience for attendees of Scotiabank BuskerFest.

"Prepare yourself for some of the most unique performances in the world at Scotiabank BuskerFest! With Pulse The World, audience members will be able to share highlights and give tips on what and where to look next!" stated Mackenzie Muldoon, Marketing & Entertainment Director, Scotiabank BuskerFest in support of Epilepsy Toronto.

All major festival listings will be included in the Pulse The World app. These events can be identified with a purple pulse, a beacon on an interactive map that identifies the exact time and location an event is taking place. The community is also invited to add pulses at Scotiabank BuskerFest by tagging the excitement they see going on around them. This community-sourced information identifies where the user made the sighting, what they saw, and when it happened, allowing attendees to get real-time information about their surroundings. Other users can comment on what was seen or publish the content to their social network to spread the word about the event.

"We are thrilled to launch the latest version of our app at Scotiabank BuskerFest. It is the perfect place for Pulse The World users to try out the fantastic new photos feature. With Pulse The World, Scotiabank BuskerFest attendees will be able to engage with the event, and each other, on a whole new level," says Ben Roberts, Co-Founder of Pulse The World.

Scotiabank BuskerFest admission is by donation at the gates, with proceeds supporting Epilepsy Toronto. The festival helps raise the funds needed to provide important services to promote the independence and quality of life for people living in Toronto with this condition.

As an extra incentive for donating to Epilepsy and attending Scotiabank BuskerFest, Pulse The World will be giving away two iPad2s on Sunday, August 28th. Pulse The World users will be rewarded for community engagement during the festival by Pulsing what they see happening around them. Every Pulse counts as an entry to a random draw. If the user spreads the word by sending their Pulse to Twitter, they will be given and additional entry, doubling their chance to win.

Pulse The World is available for download for free in the Apple app store.

About Pulse the World:

Based in Toronto, Canada, Pulse The World is a mobile app that allows you to share and discover all things large and small that are happening around you, RIGHT NOW!

Rather than having to "check-in" to a place or "follow" a specific user, the channel you are viewing is based on your current location and time.

The world is full of tiny events happening on street corners just a block away from you. Even though these are so close, you will most likely never know about them. Pulse The World has created a platform which allows users to quickly share these micro-events, whether they be a free sample handout, an amazing street musician, or a fender-bender slowing down traffic. A hybrid between Twitter and Foursquare, users are rewarded by their local community for sharing what they see and helping others discover the spontaneous events happening around them.

Pulse The World is the most engaging community app because it turns your hyper-local expertise into real-time information that can be immediately shared with others. The community moderates the content, adds to the conversation, and rewards you for your good deeds!
