Puma Increases its Strategic Holding at Turgeon Deposit, New Brunswick

RIMOUSKI, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Oct. 19, 2010) - Puma Exploration (TSX VENTURE:PUM) is pleased to announce the staking of two new blocks of contiguous claims at the Turgeon copper project, located 25 kilometres north of Bathurst, New Brunswick.

The 46 new claims acquired by the Company, with a total area of 10 km2 (1,000 hectares) are at the southwest and northeast ends of the existing claim blocks. The total current area of the property is now 24.5 km2 (2,450 hectares): it covers all the Fournier Group's volcanic formation, which hosts the Turgeon copper-zinc deposit.

These acquisitions represent an increase of about 70% in the surface area of the Turgeon Project, where the Company is currently conducting exploration work consisting of a drilling campaign and geophysical surveys. The Company will now have 100% of the mineral rights over an area which has so far received very little detailed exploration and which offers a significant potential for discoveries, with a number of geophysical anomalies that have a similar signature to those in the mineralized zones, as well as a favourable geologic setting.

About Turgeon

The Turgeon property is located only 5 km south of the deepwater port of Belledune. The property is accessible by road all year round, and is crossed by a power line. The deposit so far appears to consist of four high-grade lenses of copper-zinc mineralization spread over a length of 450 metres; two of the lenses outcrop on surface. Excellent copper intersections, including 2.5% Cu over 34.1 metres, 2.7% Cu over 36.2 metres, and 7.9% Cu over 7.5 metres, have been encountered in drillholes.

Three types of mineralization were intersected during the previous drilling campaigns, carried out by Esso Minerals in 1979-82 and by Puma in 2008-09. These comprise copper-rich stockwork zones, massive sulphide zones with high copper-zinc values, and zinc-rich brecciated fault zones. Exploration work is currently under way at the Turgeon deposit to fully characterize the mineralization present and thereby to better define priority exploration targets, with the aim of significantly increasing the resources presently known.
