PuntoNet Chooses Airspan to Provide 5.85 GHz WiMAX Solutions in Ecuador

BOCA RATON, FL--(Marketwire - February 21, 2008) - Airspan Networks Inc. (NASDAQ : AIRN ), a
leading worldwide provider of WiMAX broadband wireless access networks,
announced today that PuntoNet, Ecuador's largest Wireless Internet Service
Provider, has awarded Airspan a follow-on contract to supply MicroMAX base
stations and related CPE equipment to expand their nationwide WiMAX
services in major cities in Ecuador.
PuntoNet began operations in Quito, Ecuador in 2000 and today is the
largest WIMAX operator in the country. Focused on enhancing its leading
position in data, Internet, and VoIP services, PuntoNet is actively
deploying Airspan WIMAX networks around the country. PuntoNet has already
began deploying WiMAX infrastructure in eight major cities (Quito,
Guayaquil, Cuenca, Santo Domingo, Manta, Portoviejo, Quevedo and Machala)
and is currently expanding its nationwide WIMAX coverage to an additional
six cities in 2008.
