Puppet Labs Achieves Record Sales in Fiscal Q1 2015

Puppet Is Now Used by More Than 25,000 Companies Around the World, Including 62 Percent of the Fortune 100

PORTLAND, OR--(Marketwired - May 12, 2015) - Puppet Labs, the leading provider of IT automation software, today announces the closing of its best quarter ever in conjunction with its 10th year in business. With a decade of industry experience and community, customer and partner feedback behind it, Puppet Labs software is the de facto standard for IT automation, a prerequisite for adopting DevOps practices.

Luke Kanies, founder and CEO, created the company to help sysadmins automate the menial, repetitive parts of their work, enabling organizations to build adaptive, agile infrastructure so IT teams can deliver business-changing software faster than ever. Luke's motivations for founding Puppet Labs are even more relevant today, with the rising interest in DevOps.

In a blog post celebrating Puppet Labs' 10th birthday, Luke Kanies wrote:

"While it's been a long road, the thing I still love best is when someone comes up to me (usually at one of our events) and says something like, 'Puppet changed my life. I love my job so much more now, and it's all because of Puppet.' Nothing we've done would be worth it if our users didn't feel this way. I'm excited to see what the next 10 years will bring."

Accomplishments from Puppet Labs' fiscal Q1:

  • Current bookings run rate of $75 million.
  • Driven by major interest in the Puppet Enterprise 3.8 product release, April was Puppet Labs' most successful month ever in terms of bookings, with a 325 percent increase from April 2014.
  • Continued acceleration of the Puppet Supported Program, including new integrations with Arista and Cumulus Networks, enabling customers to make software defined networking (SDN) and its benefits a reality.
  • Closed its fourth annual DevOps survey, the largest and most comprehensive study of DevOps in the industry, gathering responses from 10,260 respondents. Last year's survey showed that organizations with high IT performance are twice as likely to exceed their profitability, market share and productivity goals. This year's survey results will include findings around the impact of team structure, specific practices and other aspects of DevOps culture on IT performance and profitability.
  • Chosen as the Growth Stage Company of the Year by the Technology Association of Oregon.
  • More than 1,200 students were trained on Puppet skills in Q1.
