Pure Nickel Announces C$4,000,000 Exploration Program for its MAN Alaska Property

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - May 7, 2007) - Pure Nickel Inc. (TSX VENTURE:NIC)(OTCBB:PNCKF) announces it has started its 2007 exploration program for its 100% owned MAN Alaska Property ("MAN"). MAN represents the largest of Pure Nickel's 100% owned properties and is significant for its high grade nickel and copper values. Grab samples up to 15.4% nickel and 6.4 % copper have been recorded through assay in previous exploration seasons. Pure Nickel has committed C$4,000,000 to its 2007 exploration program at MAN representing one half of its annual exploration budget. The exploration program shall include sophisticated airborne geophysical surveys, ground mapping, detailed soil and bedrock geochemical surveys and 4,000 metres of exploration drilling.

Pure Nickel has contracted Geotech Ltd. of Aurora, Ontario to carry out an extensive, targeted high resolution VTEM B-field system airborne electromagnetic survey of approximately 3,327 line-km over the Alpha, Beta and East Rainy complexes of Pure Nickel's MAN Alaska property. These blocks have been prioritized on the basis of past geological, geochemical, geophysical and exploration drilling data. The surveys are designed to detect Ni-Cu sulphide bodies conformal to the main structure of the complex and potential orthogonal feeder or "plumbing systems" carrying sulphides. This survey will investigate these intrusive bodies for the first time to depths of up to 400m. Geotech Ltd's crew is currently in place and flying is scheduled to commence on or about May 8, 2007.

Currently, 3D inversion modeling is being conducted by L.E. Reed Geophysical Consultant Inc., Rockwood, Ontario on the Alpha complex and will be integrated with the results of the new VTEM survey and existing magnetic data to provide new insights into the form, structure and potential controls on the localization of magmatic sulphides.

On June 1, 2007 Mineral Exploration Services Ltd., Reno, Nevada will commence a geochemical survey on the property that will provide additional detail and definition (1063 samples) to existing soil geochemical anomalies established in the 2003-05 programs (4034 samples), and will assist in further targeting the 2007 drill program.

Peak Exploration Ltd., Courtenay, British Columbia has been contracted to carry out a 4,000 meter diamond drill program. Pure Nickel expects drilling to start on July 15 and continue through the first week in October weather permitting.

"The MAN project is now in an advanced stage of exploration, and we are very excited about the 2007 program since it will allow us to further refine and drill test our understanding on the controls and localization of magmatic Ni-Cu-PGE sulphides within these mineralized complexes" said Dr. Larry Hulbert, Chief Exploration Officer of Pure Nickel.
